Our People - Jan Koch - Club Manager Potsdamer Platz
Jan Koch loves to travel and to experience the essences of local cultures and flavours. Working at Holmes Place satisfies that international appeal, meeting new and exciting people every day. Be inspired.
What is your passion and what do you love about it?
My passion is to travel around the world and to get to know a lot of nice places and people. I can combine that with my other interest in good local food. I love to meet the locals and learn more about their culture and daily living. Seeing different parts of the world, getting to know local habits and the way of living really inspires me. It opens my mind, and I can learn a lot to use in my personal and professional life.
How did you begin and what stands-out in your journey?
After my work & travel trip to Australia for half a year, I wanted to complete all continents. Besides sports city Melbourne, Australia which became “the place to be” for me, I was overwhelmed by the Japanese culture and attitude. I am lucky that I have been there twice already and saw different parts of the country like Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka and Kobe. Being interested in local food, I try to attend at least one local cooking class which is always good fun and delicious. Working for Holmes Place is like an ongoing journey around the world for me because every day I meet different people from different countries with different needs & wants according to their culture. It is great for me to work for an international company with international guests as I can improve my English daily.
What are your next goals?
My next trip will bring me to Taiwan and Hong Kong. I am really looking forward to this because I heard that Taiwan combines Chinese tradition with Japanese culture and behaviours. At Holmes Place, my goal is to improve our club at Potsdamer Platz, Berlin on a daily base regarding delivering excellent service to our members and guests as well as creating an atmosphere of being at HOME.
