Adam Heaven - Head of Standards & Service, Health & Safety & Group Fitness - Holmes Place
Adam Heaven has been with Holmes Place for six years. Those who know him recognise him for his tremendous work ethic and dedication. Here is a little bit more about him.
How did you begin and what stands out in your journey?
I started in this industry sixteen years ago, after deciding that I needed to change my career path. This decision made me start all over again and becoming a full-time student ten years after leaving school. Initially, and I find this funny now, but I wanted to pursue a career related to sport drug testing.
The fact is that I ended up in the fitness industry but with a different goal. I ended up pursuing this career after meeting someone I knew by chance and, well, the rest is history. During my journey, I had my full-time job during the day, and I studied at night. In these last sixteen years, I think that only in three of them I wasn't studying. I studied Business and Finance, Health and Safety, and I even trained to become a fully qualified lifeguard.
My journey with Holmes Place started six years ago, in Vienna, where I managed two of the four clubs we have in the city before deciding to move. Holmes Place, however, offered me the opportunity that allows me to use my skill set and ability and manage Service and Standards, Health and Safety and Group Fitness (I know it is a lot) for 14 clubs in Germany, something I do to this day. I feel I am very fortunate for not only work on an industry so dear to me but also for doing a job that I love for an organization that allows me to be creative.
What is your passion and what do you love about it?
I am very passionate about many things in life. However, the topic of mental wellness is one that I consider being very dear to me. Like everyone else, I feel that life can be quite a ride and that everyone embarks on this journey. In the last few years, I have started to try to learn more about this topic. This allowed me to develop a better understanding of myself and how to live a more fulfilling life. Something that I found and that works for me is to exercise regularly, in particular, running and ensuring I take three holidays on the beach per year. We should never dismiss our need to relax and recharge fully.
I have also recently started a project named ProjectHeaven to help raise awareness in this topic as well as help support people with different dilemmas. I would love to see this project grow in 2020.
What are your next goals?
I want to continue to grow personally and finish my Health and Safety degree, as well as to grow and develop Projectheaven. From a professional aspect, I would like to continue the fantastic progress we are making in our German clubs and continue to help the team members grow and become the best they can be. I always feel that giving back is very rewarding.
