Our People – Jonathan Fisher

This is the first of our ‘Our People’ stories, a portrait of the passions that move the incredible people that work at Holmes Place. Be inspired.

When someone joins Holmes Place they begin a journey of passions and personal challenges that inspires their whole life. The same happens with all the people that make us who we are, our people.

This is the story of one of those journeys. This is the story of Jonathan Fisher, Holmes Place Group CEO.

What is your passion and what do you love about it?

There is a famous saying that goes, “give someone a fish and you feed them for a day, teach them to fish and you feed them for a lifetime.” Although I am vegetarian, I appreciate the sentiment in this quote! It gives me profound satisfaction to help people become increasingly self-sufficient in achieving a healthy and enjoyable life. I have found that the practice of daily exercise and meditation, if introduced and taught skillfully, is a powerful tool for improving the quality of life.

How did you begin and what stands-out in your journey?

Whilst at university, for the first time in my life, I experienced an overwhelming lack of control in providing for my own sense of well-being and happiness. It would probably have been diagnosed as a depression of sorts. It only lasted a couple of weeks thanks to the advice of a wise man who told me to exercise daily –even if I felt that I did not have the energy to get out of bed. Years later, with this in mind, it felt appropriate to accept the invitation to join this amazing company, Holmes Place which embodied much of what I had experienced personally about exercise. Although short-lived, that experience lead me to continue exploring philosophies and methods of achieving more balance and well-being in life. In 2001, I was fortunate to encounter and establish a connection with a masterful teacher of meditation and lifestyle. Since that date, I have been steadily integrating these teachings and sharing them whenever appropriate. What are your next goals?

The same as the previous ones – “enjoy the journey!”
