Being CMO of an international company means always striving to be on top of the wave. And Sean Turner – Holmes Place Group Chief Marketing Officer – is passionate about surfing. This is his way of enjoying the journey.
What is your passion and what do you love about it?
Surfing really embodies the Holmes Place secret to enjoying an activity – to do something you like, in a place you like, with people you like. So I love it because… Surfing is a great workout, it’s fun yet constantly challenging with a healthy dose of adrenaline. It’s tough to beat a sport that is practised in the ocean and allows you to travel to some of the most beautiful spots in the world. There is nothing better than a fun surf session with a group of good friends. An added bonus is that surfing encourages relaxation, patience and peace of mind (while waiting for waves).
How did you begin and what stands-out in your journey?
Although I did many sports growing up, I was always drawn to surfing but only really learnt to surf in my late 30’s.
Besides being lucky enough to travel to wonderful locations and meet great people the stand-out moments are meeting my wife through surfing and seeing my kids now learning to surf.
What are your next goals?
As I have recently recovered from injury, my goals are simply to stay healthy, spend more time in the water and keep progressing (I have a lot of space for improvement). As I like (or have) to say ‘ the best surfer in the water is the one having the most fun’.
