Our People – Chris Cooper
Chris Cooper is passionate about running but he finds room in his journey to make sure the purpose of the run is bigger than just coming in first. #WeRunThis
Chris has since moved from Holmes Place and with #WeRunThis and is following his dream and improving the world at the same time. He has our full support. Go, Chris!
This is his story:
With incredible projects like ‘Runners Heal’, Chris Cooper proves that every step counts in this journey.
What is your passion and what do you love about it?
Perhaps it’s a cliché but running and inspiring others to run! Recently I ran a treadmill challenge in Bahrenefeld and over 200 members took part, running more than 800km as a group – this is what I love!
How did you begin and what stands-out in your journey?
I have always been relatively sporty but being diagnosed with double Pneumonia in a Barcelona hospital whilst on the apprentice was definitely the initial ‘kick’. This made me recognise that I didn’t have balance in my life, and as a young father I wanted to fix this. Whilst I have found my own path with running with my new contacts in Kenya, the team at Holmes Place has helped me find the balance in my training. Through Yoga and foam rolling for injury prevention, to the functional trainers who help me with core stability and best of all the members in Bahrenfeld who are constantly sending me messages of support to keep my motivation levels high.
What are your next goals?
My next goals are to get into racing. I have done one this year already here in Hamburg, and plan on a few different distances across the world whilst to raise awareness for the campaign ‘Runners Heal’ I have created online to provide relief food for poor children in Kenya.
